'SCHOLARSHIP SATURDAY' HELPS NEEDY KIDS GO TO COLLEGE

March 14, 2003

The Scholarship Saturday Bowling Tournament scheduled for 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, at Cloverleaf Lanes in Miami, kicks off a series of community/athletic events being held on Saturdays over the next several weeks to benefit the College Assistance Program, Inc. (CAP). Other events include:

• Dominoes Tournament, March 22, 11 a.m., Miami Senior High School

• Golf Tournament, April 12, 1 p.m., Country Club of Miami Golf Course

• 5K Walk/Run, April 19, 8 a.m., Tamiami Park

A softball tournament for Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) employees also is scheduled for May 3.

All events require preregistration; entry fees benefit CAP. For applications, please call Dr. Jayne Greenberg, Executive Director, Division of Life Skills and Special Projects, at 305-995-1963.

CAP was established to provide scholarship grants to deserving Miami-Dade county public school graduates who could not afford all expenses related to attending colleges and universities. Since 1988, M-DCPS students, employees and corporate sponsors have supported CAP through fund-raising events known collectively as Scholarship Saturday. More than $4.2 million have been raised to date.
