'SENSIBLE SNACK' VENDING PILOT KICKS OFF OCT. 30

The school district's Department of Food and Nutrition will kick off its "Sensible Snack" vending machine pilot promotion with a sampling of new food items starting at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 at Nautilus Middle School, 4301 N. Michigan Ave., Miami Beach.

Pepsi, Pepsico and the National Dairy Council will introduce a new assortment of sugar-free beverages and reduced-fat, oat-based or baked foods.

Guests will include School Board members and State Sen. Gwen Margolis, who is introducing a bill on childhood obesity prevention.
