HIALEAH HIGH GRADUATE NAMED 'FLORIDA'S ALL AMERICAN SUCCESS STORIES' WINNER

José Garcia, a 1980 graduate of Hialeah Senior High School's Industrial Electronics program, will be recognized in Tallahassee on Wednesday, Feb. 12 with the "Florida's All American Success Stories" award. Part of the award includes $10,000 for Hialeah High's Industrial Electronics program.

The "Success Stories" initiative recognizes Floridians who have participated in adult and/or technical education programs and have achieved success in their career fields. Today, Garcia is director of Broadcast Operations and Engineering for WFOR-Channel 4, the top technical position for the CBS network affiliate.

February 9-15 is Florida Career and Technical Education Week, and Miami-Dade County Public Schools has been a proven leader in adult/vocational and career education programs by serving some 149,088 post-secondary and adult education students annually. Career and technical education is the foundation for preparing Florida residents for academic success and the workforce. It provides opportunities for self-sufficiency and career advancement while promoting literacy, academic advancement and job training through employer partnerships.
