TURNER TECH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AMONG 42 NATIONAL TELEVISION ACADEMY WINNERS

Joseph Romulus Jr., a student at William H. Turner Technical Arts High School, is among 42 students nationwide being honored Sunday, June 8 in Washington, D.C. for winning a First Annual Student Award of Excellence from the National Television Academy for outstanding high school television journalism.

Established last November, the awards will be given in six categories: News, Arts & Entertainment/Documentary, Public Affairs/Community Service/Public Service, Sports, Technical Achievement, and Writing. Joseph's entry "As Turner Turns" won in the Arts & Entertainment/Documentary category.

Created by the academy's National Student Television program to promote, encourage and support journalistic skills among students, the awards competition also is sponsored by Time Magazine and PBS.

The National Television Academy is dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry.
