ATHLETIC DIRECTOR RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD December 19, 2001 Ron Balazs, athletic director of Felix Varela Senior High School, is the 2001 recipient of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Thomas E. Frederick Award of Excellence. The award is presented annually to a NIAAA member whose contributions to the athletic directors' profession represent excellence in achievement.
