The Books of the Month and JUST READ are part of the School
Board's Comprehensive Reading Plan implemented in 1998 to
ensure all students read at grade level by grade 3.
Recent successes, such as the district's 10-point increase
in the third-grade reading comprehension median percentile
score on the Stanford Achievement Test, prompted the Board
to expand the plan for another three years.
October's Books of the Month, as well as reading tips for
students and parents, can be seen at the district's reading
website at [www.dade.k12.fl.us/inst/lms/index.htm].
Monthly reading selections are available at school
libraries.
