CORAL PARK HIGH CALCULUS TEACHER RECEIVES NATIONAL HONOR

Mercedes Tania Revilla, an advanced placement calculus teacher at Miami Coral Park Senior High School, has been named a 2001 Siemens Foundation Advanced Placement Award winner.

Revilla was among 18 winners selected from a pool of 22,000 teachers nationwide. She was cited for exemplary teaching and enthusiastic dedication to diverse groups of students. Twenty-four of Revilla's 27 advanced placement calculus students achieved passing scores on the demanding college-level calculus examination given last May for an outstanding passing rate of 89 percent.
