STUDENTS TO EXPLORE CAREERS AT FAIR, DEC. 15

November 26, 2001

Thousands of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) students and their families will explore options in high school courses and programs to prepare for higher education and future employment, at the 2001-02 Career Fair.

Set for Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds' Arnold Hall, Coral Way and S.W. 112th Ave., the fair will offer beneficial information for students at all grade levels, with exhibits by local businesses and the school system's magnet programs and career academies.

A computer career center, counseling center, mock job interviews and information sessions are fair highlights. Student performances and on-site child-care services also will be provided.

"It's never too early to help our students plan their futures," said Superintendent of Schools Merrett R. Stierheim. "Last year's first annual career fair proved to be invaluable for the more than 7,000 students and parents who attended to learn about educational choices and career paths."

M-DCPS, the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition, and One Community, One Goal®, an agency to create jobs in specific high-growth industries, are the fair's hosts. Admission is free.
