January 5, 2001
Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) eighth- and ninth-graders
and their families will explore options in high school courses and
programs to help students prepare for higher education and future
employment, at the 2001 Career Fair.
Set for Saturday, Jan. 20, from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., at the
Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds' Sunshine Pavilion, 10901 Coral Way,
the fair will offer beneficial information for students at all grade
levels, with exhibits by local businesses and the school system's
magnet programs.
A computer resource center, counseling center, mock job interviews
and information sessions are fair highlights. Entertainment and
on-site child-care services also will be provided.
"The Career Fair is an invaluable opportunity for our students and
their parents to learn about educational choices and career paths.
It's never too early to help our students plan their futures," said
Superintendent of Schools Roger C. Cuevas.
M-DCPS, the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition, and One Community,
One Goal®, an agency to create jobs in specific high-growth
industries, are the fair's hosts. Admission is free. For more
information, call 305-995-7338.
