VIRGINIA SHUKER TO RECEIVE DANCE AWARD June 19, 2001 Virginia B. Shuker, District Supervisor for Talent Programs and Dance, will receive the Florida Dance Association's 2001 Nancy Smith Award on Tuesday, June 26 following an 8 p.m. Florida Dances performance at the New World Dance Theater, 25 N.E. Second Street. Shuker supervises Miami-Dade County Public Schools' 18 talent programs and 70 dance teachers, one of the largest public dance school programs in the country. She started the dance talent magnet program at Norland Middle School in 1985 and has taught at several schools within the district. She is on the Board of Directors of the Florida Dance Association.
