MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO HOLD
CAREER FAIR FOR DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS

May 17, 2001

Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Office of Exceptional Student Education and Psychological Services will hold 17th Annual Career Fair for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students on Tuesday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Florida Ballroom of the Wyndham Hotel, 1601 Biscayne Blvd.

More than 200 middle and high school students will be able to meet deaf and hard of hearing working professionals. The students will have the opportunity to interact with these role models and learn of their experiences.

Personnel directors from various companies will offer opportunities for senior students to participate in mock interviews. Since the interviewers will be hearing people, the students will be able to practice using a sign language interpreter in a work setting. Additionally, the interviews will be videotaped so that students will be able to critique themselves, along with the help of their teachers and counselors.

For more information, contact June Dressler, Counselor for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students, at 305-995-1779.
