Old-timers who think they had it tougher when they were kids are right. Thanks to Dial A-Teacher, a service of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, today's students find homework help right at their fingertips.

Last year, more than 20,000 youngsters in Miami-Dade's public schools did just that. When they sent an email to www.dial-a-teacher.com or dialed 305-995-1600 between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays, they found a certified teacher waiting to answer their questions. And if they tuned into Cable-TAP Channel 37 from 5-6 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, they could see their homework lessons taught live on interactive television

For the past 15 years, Dial-A-Teacher has been a free service of Miami-Dade County Public Schools in cooperation with the United Teachers of Dade and WLRN-TV. It offers help in most subjects, provided by certified public school teachers.

Bilingual help is also available.
