FIU LENDS LEWIS TO ASSIST SUPERINTENDENT MERRETT R. STIERHEIM November 8, 2001 Florida International University (FIU) President Mitch Maidique has authorized the loan, on a pro bono basis, of Dr. Ralph G. Lewis to assist Superintendent of Schools Merrett R. Stierheim with administrative duties. An associate professor of public administration, Dr. Lewis will continue his FIU professorship and other responsibilities while working on strategic initiatives for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. He recently completed a strategic plan for FIU. Dr. Lewis holds a doctorate of education from Harvard University. He also pursued graduate studies in social ethics, human relations, counseling and planned change at the Boston University School of Theology. In 1998, Dr. Lewis served on the Florida Board of Examiners for the Governor's Sterling Award for Organizational Performance.
