$6.25 MILLION GRANT TO PROVIDE HEALTH SERVICES
TO FIVE NORTH MIAMI-DADE SCHOOLS

April 20, 2001

The five schools in the North Miami Beach feeder pattern will benefit from a $6.25 million grant from the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation School Health Initiative. This five-year initiative is a collaborative partnership between the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the University of Miami School of Medicine, the Miami-Dade County Health Department and the Miami-Dade Area Health Education Center. The funds will be used to provide health services to students.

The grant will establish and staff full-scale primary care clinics at Sabal Palm, Fulford and Greynolds Park elementary schools; John F. Kennedy Middle School and North Miami Beach Senior High School.

The clinics will provide the schools with comprehensive primary health care including wellness education and support services. Basic school health services, mental health services, vision and dental screenings and referrals will be offered to all students regardless of their ability to pay.
