Declaring a state of emergency from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday,
Schools Superintendent Merrett R. Stierheim ordered all
Miami-Dade County public schools closed until further
notice.
Students should not report to school and employees, except
for the Superintendent's Senior Staff, should not report to
work until further notice or unless otherwise directed by
their supervisors.
The decision to close was meant to safeguard students and
staff.
If weather conditions and building safety permit,
Superintendent Stierheim may lift the order tomorrow at 3
p.m. to allow adult and vocational classes to proceed as
normally scheduled.
