Four Miami-Dade County Public Schools students are semifinalists in
the Intel Science Talent Search, America's oldest and most
prestigious pre-college science competition. The students were
selected from 1,592 applicants nationwide.
The students, their schools, and the topics of their research
are:

Can the Volume of North Brazilian Current Rings Be Observed from TOPEX/POSEIDON Altimetry?
Intel awards a $1,000 scholarship to each semifinalist and $1,000
to his or her school to be used for math and science education
programs. Sixty-one Miami-Dade County Public Schools students, an
increase in participation of 50% over last year, submitted research
projects. Students were judged on individual research reports,
research ability, scientific originality and creative thinking. The
four Miami-Dade County students are among eleven selected as
semifinalists in Florida.
