Dr. George M. Koonce, Region VI Superintendent, has been elected as
Chair of the Commission on Secondary and Middle School of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). In addition to
his position as Chair, Koonce will serve as a member of the Board of
Trustees of the Association.
Founded in 1895, SACS is one of six regional accrediting bodies in
the U.S. It works with schools and colleges in 11 Southern states
from Virginia to Texas, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.
