The Miami-Dade County School Board has won the American School Board
Journal's prestigious Magna Award for its Comprehensive Reading
Program and JUST READ marketing campaign. The award is given
annually to a handful of school boards across the country that take
bold, innovative and positive steps to improve school district
governance and student achievement.
Miami-Dade's Comprehensive Reading Plan will be cited in a special
supplement to the journal's April 2001 issue and featured on the web
at www.asbj.com/magna. All Magna Award winners will be honored in
San Diego at a March 24-27 conference of the National School Boards
Association, the journal's publisher.
