'READING DAY
IN THE MALLS' TO BE HELD APR. 21 ### 01-J0143/JS

"Reading Day in the Malls" will be held at five area
shopping malls on Saturday, Apr. 21, from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m.
Now in its 15th year, the event is designed to encourage a
love of reading in students. Volunteers from Miami-Dade
County Public Schools and area universities will read their
favorite book and dress in costumes that illustrate the
books' main characters. Children who attend are presented
with a free book, pencil and bookmark. Parents are provided
with brochures prepared by the International Reading
Association, encouraging reading in the home.
The event will be held at Aventura Mall, Cutler Ridge Mall,
Mall of the Americas, Dadeland Mall, and Miami International
Mall.
