DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR SCIENCE, MATH ACHIEVEMENTS, NOV. 15

Five Miami-Dade County Public Schools students will be recognized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology South Florida Alumni Association Educational Grant Program (MIT/EGP) at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the University of Miami's McArthur Annex, Room 202.

Danielle Camille-Lovell Andrews of Miami Norland Senior High School is the 2001 MIT/EGP Awardee and will receive $1000.

Four students will be recognized as award finalists and receive $100 and certificates of merit. They are:

Theodore Lawrence Burton - Coral Gables Senior High School

Shoaib S. Khan - North Miami Senior High School

Brian Scott Silberberg - Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School

Angel R. Solis - Miami Coral Park Senior High School.

The awards were established through an alliance between the Science, Engineering, Communications and Mathematics Enhancement Program and the MIT South Florida Alumni Association which was launched last spring. The purpose of the MIT/EGP is to financially assist disadvantaged students and aid in admission to the college of their choice.
