NORTH DADE CENTER FOR
MODERN LANGUAGES RECEIVES SCHOOL OF MERIT HONOR
June 6, 2001
The North Dade Center for Modern Languages has been named a
School of Merit by Magnet Schools of America, a national
organization that encourages the development and improvement
of magnet schools.
The honor is based on the school's commitment to high
academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful
desegregation efforts, and the consistent delivery of
quality services to all stakeholders.
The school offers students two hours of daily language
instruction in Spanish or French. Additionally, a
language-based gifted program provides eligible students
with two hours of daily instruction in language arts.
Students' outstanding FCAT scores recently earned the school
an 'A' from the Florida Department of Education.
For more information, contact Dr. Maria Castaigne, school
principal, at 305-625-3885.
