SUPERINTENDENT CUEVAS TO ADDRESS TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS

June 26, 2001

Superintendent of Schools Roger C. Cuevas will speak to technology students on Friday, June 29 at 2:30 p.m. at New Horizons Computer Learning Center of Miami, 7757 W. Flagler Street, Suite 200.

Sixteen Miami-Dade County Public Schools students each received scholarships valued at $3,995 to pursue a two-week course of study that will prepare them for the A+ Certification exam for computer service technicians.

"We are excited to have formed a private-public partnership with New Horizons to encourage students from disadvantaged areas to pursue careers in the technology area," said Cuevas. "This fits perfectly with the goals of our district to prepare our graduates for careers in the arena of technology."
