M-DCPS WINS GOLDEN ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM
NATIONAL SCHOOL PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION

June 4, 2001

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has won the National School Public Relations Association's Golden Achievement Award for its First Annual Career Fair, held last January.

The award is given annually for exemplary school public relations activities from around the country.

The fair allowed eighth- and ninth-graders and their families to meet with counselors and representatives of local businesses to learn about higher education and career opportunities. More than 7,000 students attended.

M-DCPS, the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition and One Community, One Goal®, a community agency established to create local jobs in high-growth industries, hosted the event.
