ACADEMY PROJECT
April 10, 2001
Five public high schools in Miami-Dade County are among the
30 in Florida named as winners in the competition to
participate in the Oracle Internet Academy project.
They join Miami Senior High School, which was one of 30 high
schools in the nation to pilot the project in September.
Miami Beach, Miami Killian, Dr. Michael M. Krop, Miami Lakes
and Miami Norland senior high schools will take part in the
Oracle Internet Academy, according to an announcement by
Florida Education Commissioner Charlie Crist.
Oracle Internet Academy is a two-year program that provides
professional certification in Oracle database application
and Java programming. Sponsored by the Oracle Corporation,
the project includes teacher training, course materials, and
an internship with a local business.
