PROJECT PROUD AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED ON APRIL 20 AT FLORIDA MEMORIAL COLLEGE

The seventh annual "Peace Awards" for students, sponsors and schools participating in Miami-Dade County Public Schools' PROUD program will be presented from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 20, in the auditorium of Florida Memorial College, 15800 N.W. 42 Avenue.

PROUD, an acronym for Peacefully Resolving Our Unsettled Differences, is a conflict-resolution and mediation program and the umbrella for the district's violence prevention and intervention initiatives.

The program includes mediation and conflict-resolution skills training for students, staff and parents. Its curriculum materials are available in English, Haitian-Creole and Spanish.

The Peace Awards, a joint project of the district's Advisory Committee on Multicultural Programs and the Department of Cultural Diversity and Intergroup Relations, are presented to the student, sponsor and school that have shown exemplary conflict resolution skills.
