SCHOOL BOARD RE-ELECTS HANTMAN AS CHAIR, KROP AS VICE CHAIR

At its annual organization meeting today, the Miami-Dade County School Board elected Perla Tabares Hantman and Dr. Michael M. Krop to their third consecutive terms as chair and vice chair, respectively.

Hantman, elected to the School Board in 1996, represents District 4 and is the first Hispanic woman to serve as School Board Chair. She began her distinguished public service career as a first-grade teacher in her native Havana, Cuba. Hantman also chairs the Board's Facilities Planning and Construction Committee.

Krop, elected to the Board in 1980, represents District 3 and is a practicing orthodontist. He also chairs the Board's Financial Affairs Committee.
