M-DCPS TO HOLD SOCIAL STUDIES CONFERENCE 2001 - MAY 1 April 26, 2001 Miami-Dade County Public Schools Division of Social Studies will hold its 4th Annual Social Studies Conference on Tuesday, May 1 at 8 a.m at the Radisson Mart Plaza Hotel, 711 N.W. 72 Ave. This year's theme is Social Studies 2001: Empowering Students for Active Citizenship. The conference will provide a forum for educators, business partners and community leaders to exchange ideas and explore ways to promote the goals of civic education in the school system. Conference attendees will also participate in panel discussions with local public officials, attend social studies content sessions and review instructional materials.
