4,000 Educators, 600 Students Expected at Instructional Technology Conference, Oct. 10-11

Miami-Dade County Public Schools' (M-DCPS) ninth annual Instructional Technology Conference, Preparing for the eFuture-NOW, is expected to attract thousands to the Miami Beach Convention Center Oct. 10 and 11.

The business community will help kickoff the event at the superintendent's reception at the convention center Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m.

Information sessions, prominent speakers and more than 180 vendors will present the latest in instructional technology for the classroom. More than 600 senior high school students will attend special sessions that showcase careers in technology and M-DCPS' own career academies, including the Apple Web, CISCO and Oracle Internet academies.

Northwestern University associate professor of education and social policy Louis M. Gomez will give the keynote speech Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

A webcast of the conference, produced by staff and students at Miami Sunset Senior High School, will be available beginning Oct. 10 at [
