More than $26
million in cuts to Miami-Dade's school bureaucracy since
last fall were detailed in a Sept. 30 report to School Board
members by Superintendent Merrett R. Stierheim. The cuts to
non-school site administrative functions were made under the
Board's guidance since Stierheim's hiring last Oct. 24th and
will result in recurring savings annually. Coupled with
$24 million in reductions approved by the Board last Sept.
12, the cuts bring total reductions to approximately $50
million in little over a year. [EDITORS
