PUBLIC INVITED TO TOWN HALL MEETING ON NEW CONSTRUCTION AT MIAMI BEACH HIGH SCHOOL

December 4, 2002

Miami-Dade School Board Chair Michael M. Krop and Miami Beach Commissioner Matti Herrera Bower have invited the public to a town hall meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 in the third-floor commission chamber of Miami Beach City Hall to discuss plans for construction at Miami Beach Senior High School.

Dr. Krop and Commissioner Bower are seeking input from the community on the four- to five-year phased replacement of deteriorated buildings in the high school complex. The phased-in program will allow the school to keep operating while construction takes place.

José Murguido of the architectural firm of Zyscovich, Inc., recently awarded the contract to design the $36 million project, will make a presentation at the meeting. Top-level administrative staff from Miami-Dade County Public Schools will be present for community input and to respond to questions.

Miami Beach City Hall is located on 17th Street and Convention Center Drive. For more information, call Judith Matz at the office of Dr. Michael Krop 305-995-1334 or Commissioner Bower at 305-673-7030.
