CAREER FAIR FOR DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS MAY 21

May 13, 2002

Miami-Dade County Public Schools' Office of Exceptional Student Education and Psychological Services will hold its 18th annual Career Fair for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students on Tuesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Florida Ballroom of the Renaissance Miami Biscayne Bay Hotel, 1601 Biscayne Blvd.

Secondary students will be able to meet deaf and hard of hearing working professionals. The students will have the opportunity to interact with these role models and learn of their experiences.

Personnel directors from various companies will offer opportunities for senior students to participate in mock interviews. Since the interviewers will be hearing people, the students will be able to practice using a sign language interpreter in a work setting. Additionally, the interviews will be videotaped so that students will be able to critique themselves, along with the help of their teachers and counselors.

For more information, contact June Dressler, Mary Ellen Tracy, or Wendy Hameroff-Cohen, Counselors for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students, at 305-995-1779.
