MIAMI-DADE STUDENTS TO TAKE FCAT WEEK OF MARCH 11
March 6, 2002
Thousands of Miami-Dade students will take the Florida
Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) in reading and math the
week of March 11.
Test scores will be used to determine what courses students
will take and what help they will receive next year. The
scores also will point out academic strengths and areas of
needed improvement for each school.
The FCAT is the centerpiece of the Governor's A-Plus Plan
for Education, which grades schools on student performance
and can help determine school funding.
Parents can help their children prepare by making sure they
learn and apply test-taking tips, sleep well the night
before the test, and eat a healthy breakfast the next
morning.
