MIAMI-DADE STUDENTS TO TAKE FCAT WEEK OF MARCH 11

Thousands of Miami-Dade students will take the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) in reading and math the week of March 11.

Test scores will be used to determine what courses students will take and what help they will receive next year. The scores also will point out academic strengths and areas of needed improvement for each school.

The FCAT is the centerpiece of the Governor's A-Plus Plan for Education, which grades schools on student performance and can help determine school funding.

Parents can help their children prepare by making sure they learn and apply test-taking tips, sleep well the night before the test, and eat a healthy breakfast the next morning.
