HIALEAH MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER WINS NATIONAL LAW-RELATED EDUCATION TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Jackie Viana, the social studies chair at Hialeah Middle School, has been named a National Law-Related Education Teacher of the Year by the American Lawyers Auxiliary (ALA) group.

Viana, the first social studies teacher from Florida to win this award, will receive one of three $1,000 Alice Carr Scholarship awards given annually by the group. The awards ceremony will be held during the auxiliary's annual meeting on August 10 in Washington, D.C.

ALA recognizes middle and high school teachers across the nation who have made an outstanding contribution to law-related education.
