WINNER, FINALISTS OF THE BILTMORE'S HOLIDAY CARD CONTEST TO BE FETED TONIGHT

December 17, 2002

Melinda Agron, a fifth grader at Sunset Elementary School, was the winner of the Biltmore Hotel's fifth annual holiday card contest. Melinda, five finalists and their parents will be honored at a reception tonight at 6 p.m. in the Laguna Room of the Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables.

Some 1,200 Sunset Elementary students submitted their artistic renderings of the Biltmore Hotel as it is decorated during the holidays. The five finalists: Krysteen Francis, first grade; Michelle Mehrtens, second grade; Christin Thomas, third grade; Leonard Ohayon, fourth grade; and Steve Hirabayashi, fifth grade; were chosen from each grade level.

Melinda's drawing will adorn the cover of the Biltmore's annual holiday greeting card. The five finalists' drawings will be displayed on the back of the card.

Superintendent of Schools Merrett R. Stierheim will join the winning artists and their parents at the reception.

Each winner's family will receive a certificate for the Biltmore's Sunday Champagne Brunch for four, a weekend stay for the family and a supply of holiday cards. The Biltmore Hotel is a Dade Partner, as well as a national historic landmark.
