HIALEAH MIDDLE LEADS PACK OF M-DCPS SCHOOLS WINNING TOP 5
STATE AWARDS

Four Miami-Dade public middle schools won the top five
awards at the Project Citizen State Competition, a middle
school civic education program, recently held in
Tallahassee. The state champion, Hialeah Middle School, will
represent Florida at the national competition in Denver next
month.
Sponsored by the Center for Civic Education and the Florida
Law-Related Education Association, Project Citizen has
students identify a local community problem and propose an
action plan designed to address the problem. Eighteen
Miami-Dade County middle schools participated in this year's
competition sending over 30 student portfolios to
Tallahassee for judging. Below are the schools and their
teacher sponsors:
