OUTSTANDING READING VOLUNTEER TO BE HONORED DEC. 3

Lois Magnus, media specialist at Westview Middle School, will be recognized as the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Southeast Region Volunteer of the Year on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in a 4:30 p.m ceremony at the school, 1901 N.W. 127 St., Miami.

Besides her professional duties in the school's library, Magnus has spent countless volunteer hours encouraging and motivating children to read regularly. RIF President and CEO Carol Hampton will present the award.

With 400,000 volunteers, RIF is the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit children and family literacy organization. It serves nearly five million children annually who are at risk of educational failure.
