'SCHOLARSHIP SATURDAY 2002' TO HELP NEEDY M-DCPS STUDENTS GO TO COLLEGE

Miami-Dade County Public Schools' employees and interested citizens can participate in "Scholarship Saturday 2002" events to help raise funds for deserving public high school students who otherwise could not afford to go to college. Proceeds from the events benefit the College Assistance Program, Inc.

Competitions include:

Bowling

Saturday, March 9, noon, Cloverleaf Lanes, $75 entry fee per team of 5.

Golf

Saturday, March 16, 7:15 a.m., Country Club of Miami Golf Course, $60 per person.

Dominoes

Saturday, March 23, 11 a.m., Blue Banquet Hall, $25 per person.

5K Run/Walk/Rollerblade*

Sunday, April 14, South Pointe Park, Miami Beach, $15 per adult, $6 per student

*This year's race is held in conjunction with the Volvo Ocean Race and benefits both CAP, Inc. and the Miami Beach Police Athletic League.

All participants must pre-register.

M-DCPS has helped coordinate these events for more than a decade; its employees and students have donated more than $4.1 million to CAP, Inc.
