MERRETT R. STIERHEIM URBAN AFFAIRS COLLECTION TO BE DEDICATED MARCH 26

March 25, 2002

The Merrett R. Stierheim Urban Affairs Collection will be dedicated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26 in the Urban Affairs Department of Miami-Dade County's Main Library, 101 W. Flagler Street.

The interdisciplinary collection of books, pamphlets and periodicals emphasizes public administration at local and state levels, encompassing government, planning, public policy, urban transportation, human services and law enforcement.

Newspaper articles and a retrospective of film clips spanning Stierheim's long career in public service will be presented at the event. Additionally, photographs from the library's Romer Collection will be on display. As Miami-Dade County manager, Stierheim was instrumental in securing the collection of more than 17,500 photographs taken by Miami pioneer photographer Gleason Waite Romer over a 40-year period beginning in the 1920s.
