MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS SUMMER FOOD SERVICE
PROGRAM
June 3, 2002
Miami-Dade County Public Schools will sponsor the Summer
Food Service Program for Children in a number of eligible
schools during summer school, from July 8 through August 13,
2002. Elementary and middle schools will be open from July 8
through July 30, 2002. Senior high schools will be open from
July 8 through August 13, 2002. Several schools may have
extended sessions.
The program is similar to the National School Lunch Program.
It provides nutritionally balanced meals to children
regardless of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, age or
national origin, during the summer. All children 18 years
and younger are eligible for a lunch and/or breakfast at no
charge.
The programs are approved for geographical areas of need, or
where one-half of the children qualify for free or
reduced-price meals during the school year. For specific
details and dates of operation, please contact your
neighborhood school.
