MIAMI-DADE TEACHER OF THE YEAR NAMED TO ALL-USA TEACHER TEAM

November 7, 2002

Dr. Anita Meyer Meinbach, Miami-Dade County Public Schools' 2003 Teacher of the Year, has been named to USA Today's All-USA Teacher First Team. Meinbach teaches language arts at Southwood Middle School.

Gov. Jeb Bush praised Meinbach and other teachers honored by USA Today. "They have demonstrated their dedication to teaching in a way that motivates a love for learning and encourages academic achievement among our children," Bush said.

Each October, USA Today features 20 outstanding teachers as representatives of all exemplary K-12 educators nationwide. Each member of the All-USA Teacher first team receives a trophy and $2,500 for their schools. Twenty runners up are also named to each of the second and third teams.
