HEPATITIS B, VARICELLA VACCINES UPDATE

Effective for the 2002-2003 school year, children entering, attending or transferring into pre-kindergarten through fourth grade in Florida will be required to have completed the Hepatitis B series. (Students in the process of completing the vaccine series may attend school.)

Also for next year, children entering, attending or transferring into pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, or first grade in Florida will be required to have varicella (chicken pox) vaccine.

Next year, 12th graders also will require a booster shot. The varicella vaccine is not required if a child has proof of having had the disease.
