BARRERA, HANTMAN CHOSEN TO LEAD MIAMI-DADE SCHOOL BOARD MIAMI - School Board Member Agustin J. Barrera was chosen unanimously today to chair the Miami-Dade County School Board in the coming year. Mr. Barrera thanked his fellow Board members for their support and cited the expertise and qualifications that each member brings to the Board. “We have a Board that offers incredible expertise to this community and to the Superintendent and his staff, to move this District and make it the number one school district in the country,” he said. Mr. Barrera was elected to the School Board three years ago to represent District 6. He succeeds Frank J. Bolaños, who chaired the Board for the last year. Nine-year Board Member Perla Tabares Hantman was selected as Vice Chair.
