***MEDIA ADVISORY***
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO RELEASE
PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR 3RD-GRADE FCAT
WHO: |
Superintendent Rudolph F. “Rudy” Crew, School Board Members, representatives of United Teachers of Dade |
WHAT: |
Dr. Crew will release preliminary results of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) for 3rd grade at the final monthly meeting of principals from the School Improvement Zone.
The Zone is a group of 39 schools selected last fall for extra support – including a longer school day and year, a common literacy program, and additional planning and training time for teachers – due to chronic poor academic performance.
The 3rd-grade FCAT in reading is particularly important because students must pass it to be promoted to 4th grade or have that requirement waived by educators at their schools. |
WHEN: |
Radisson Mart Plaza Hotel and Convention Center, 711 NW 72nd Avenue, Miami
|
WHERE: |
Beginning at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2005. |
