M-DCPS STUDENT WINS ACCLAIMED DISCOVER CARD
TRIBUTE AWARD SCHOLARSHIP

MIAMI — Miami Palmetto Senior High School student Rebecca Farber discovered the perfect ending to her school year when she received a Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarship worth $2,500. Farber is one of nine recipients in Florida.

Established in 1991, the Tribute Awards program honors high school juniors nationwide who have demonstrated excellence in three areas of their lives: leadership, community service and special talents. They also must maintain a 2.75 cumulative grade point average. More than 4,500 students applied and were selected by a panel of education and business leaders in each state.

The Tribute Awards program has given more than $12 million in scholarship money to over 5,200 deserving students. Once a student graduates from high school, the scholarship funds are applied toward college or training programs.
