MIAMI’S NEW PRO SOCCER CLUB
TEAMS WITH
MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO PICK TEAM NICKNAME, MASCOT
MIAMI – Students from Miami-Dade’s public schools will compete to nickname Miami’s new pro soccer team—Miami FC—and design its mascot in a contest to start Sept. 18.
The competition, which runs through Oct. 6, is open exclusively to the more than 361,550 kindergarten through 12th-grade students who attend Miami-Dade County’s 374 public schools.
A judges’ panel of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) officials, Miami FC staff, celebrities and contest sponsors will review student submissions by early November, with the top three nickname proposals and the top three mascot designs submitted to an open vote worldwide via www.miamifc.com on dates to be confirmed.
MDCPS students may submit their nickname entries and mascot designs through their teachers; directly to Miami FC by mail at Miami FC, 501 Brickell Key Drive, Suite 407, Miami, FL, 33131, Attention: Claudia Castro; or by uploading them to the Miami FC official website at www.miamifc.com. Guidelines can be found at that site.
Winners will receive an array of prizes to include computers, round-trip airline tickets and Miami FC 2007 Season Tickets.
Miami FC was founded earlier this year by Traffic Sports USA, the North American affiliate of Traffic Sports Marketing, the leading soccer team and event management company in the Americas.
More information is available through Gerardo Villa and Kristen Schiereck of the Miami FC communications department at 305-377-2700.
