REPORT CARDS GO HOME WITH STUDENTS TODAY MIAMI – Parents of Miami-Dade public school students can expect a little something extra in their children’s backpacks today—a report card. Parents and students can also view grades from this first grading period online at the parent and student portals. Parents who have existing accounts may view the Electronic Gradebook via the Internet/Parent Portal [http://myportal.dadeschools.net/parent/]. Parents who do not have an account must visit their child's school and sign a Parent Portal Identification Form to obtain a Parent PIN Number in order to register. To reach the Electronic Gradebook via telephone, parents must obtain an IVR Pin Code and instructions from their child's school. The Electronic Gradebook is an interactive tool used by teachers and administrators to maintain student grades and attendance, and is available for parent and student access. Report cards are important because they increase communication between the school and home, allowing parents to become active partners in the their children’s education. They present an accurate reflection of how a student is progressing in his or her education. Additionally, they offer parents the opportunity to learn if a conference with their children’s teachers is necessary. ### 06-FMN/056/jjs |
