BARRERA, KARP CHOSEN TO LEAD MIAMI-DADE SCHOOL BOARD MIAMI – School Board Member Agustin J. Barrera was chosen today to once again chair the Miami-Dade County School Board in the coming year. Mr. Barrera thanked his fellow Board members for their support and vowed to keep the meetings running in a business-like manner. He also promised to work to maintain the District’s focus on strong academics and a successful construction program. Mr. Barrera was re-elected to the School Board this past September. He is now serving his second term as representative for District 6. Two-year Board Member Martin Karp was selected as Vice Chair. Dr. Karp, who represents District 3, has worked for the District as a teacher and takes a strong interest in a wide array of issues that reflect the best interest of students, such as health, advanced academics, and strengthening after-school programs. # # # 06-FMN/066/TEL |
