Precious Hands is a fingerprint program designed specifically for the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and is geared toward students in grades K-5. The program uses child-fingerprinting kits as a way for parents to record and safely store their children’s vital information. The information will be available to law enforcement should the need arise. Kits include the child’s fingerprints, a DNA sample, a photograph, and medical and dental information.
Each year, nearly 800,000 children are reported missing. The majority of missing children had not been fingerprinted since birth and never had samples of their DNA stored for identification. The task of locating the missing child becomes increasingly difficult for police agencies with limited or no information. |
