M-DCPS NAMES PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR,
OTHER WINNERS OF EDUCATION AWARDS
MIAMI-- Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) announced the winners of the “Eddies” Education Awards at a dinner yesterday. The Eddies honor the exceptional contributions of educators, support staff and administrators.
The big winner of the evening was Dr. Pablo Ortiz from Coral Way K-8 Center, who won Principal of the Year. Dr. Ortiz is a 14-year veteran of the school district. He began as a physical education teacher at Naranja Elementary School and has been principal of Coral Way K-8 since 2003. Dr. Ortiz is also an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University. Coral Way K-8 Center is the first bilingual public school in the country and is nationally and internationally recognized as a model for dual language bilingual education. It has earned an “A” school grade for the last four years.
