M-DCPS TO HOLD SPELLING BEE FOR DEAF, HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS
MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Public Schools students will learn how to spell success when they participate in the fifth annual spelling bee for deaf and hard of hearing students. The spelling bee has been divided into two separate events this year. The spelling bee for sign language students will be held Tuesday, May 9 at Auburndale Elementary School, 3255 S.W. 6th Street. The spelling bee for oral students will be held Thursday, May 18 at Doral Middle School, 5005 N.W. 112th Avenue. Both events run 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Every student will receive a medal, certificate of attendance and gift bag. Trophies will be awarded to those placing first through fifth. First place winners will receive a $100 savings bond. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The event is sponsored by the District and Hearing Research Institute, a Dade Partner.
